Wilmot "Wil" Sutton Obituary

SUTTON, Frederick Wilmot “Wil” Born October 7, 1927 – October 28, 2025. Aged 98 years.

It is with sadness, that we announce Wil Sutton passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025 with granddaughter Louise by his side holding his hand at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home in The Pas, Manitoba.

Wil was born on the family farm near Roland, Manitoba. At the age of 19, he taught in a one classroom school in 1946-1947. He recognized that teaching was not his calling so he began a career with the Royal Bank. While working in The Pas, he met Velma and they were married in 1950. Dad accepted transfers to 7 or 8 communities in Manitoba including Churchill and Winnipeg.

Mom and Dad settled in Roblin in the late 1960's. Dad kept very busy serving the community of Roblin. He was on town council for several terms and was mayor from 1976-1978. Wil was also an active member of the Lions Club for 40 plus years and was a member of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.

Dad enjoyed life in Roblin. Him and Velma had a wonderful group of friends they socialized with. They played cards together, went camping, fishing, skidooing, travelling and golfing.

In 1979, Mom and Dad built their dream home on Goose Lake. They enjoyed entertaining guests, working in the garden, sitting on the deck and keeping the yard pristine. Mom and Dad went on a Caribbean cruise, made winter jaunts to Texas and Arizona, camped across Canada and vacationed in Hawaii and Mexico.

Dad was predeceased by his wife, Velma in 2023. They were married 72 years. He will be remembered by son, Marc (Sherri); daughter, Michelle (Jim); grandchildren, Louise (Ryan); Alana (Jason); Jenna (Cale); Jared (Adrianne); Riley (Lisa) and Tyler plus many great grandchildren.
