In Loving Memory of

Violet Wiebe

1931 - 2013

Our loving Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma, Violet Friesen Wiebe was born on August 26, 1931 to Cornelius and Katherine Penner Friesen.

While getting ready for church Sunday morning, November 3, 2013, she suffered a stroke. Mom went to join Dad in Heaven at suppertime, reaching the age of eighty-two years.

Mom grew up in the Steinbach, Manitoba area on the family farm.  She would share her stories with us of the happy and sad times they had as a family.  She often talked of the time she lost her little sister, Marina.  Mom received her education at the Bristol School.  In her youth she enjoyed working at “The Cannery" in St. Catharines, Ontario, in the Municipal Hospitals in Winnipeg, Manitoba and at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach.  Mom found the Lord at age twelve and was baptized on Sunday, December 12, 1943.  By God's grace, Mom has truly “fought a good fight”.

Mom married our Dad, Edwin Toews Wiebe, on June 26, 1955.  They began their married life in Whitemouth, Manitoba.  In 1962 they moved to Dad's parent's farm in Greenland, Manitoba.  In 1966, they once again packed up and moved to a farm in Roblin, Manitoba.  Upon retiring from farming in 1991, they moved into the town of Roblin, where she resided until her final move to Heaven.  Dad and Mom enjoyed the last five years in Roblin Apartments, making more close friends.

On June 3, 2013, three weeks before their fifty-eighth wedding anniversary, we laid Dad to rest.  The last five months were very lonely for Mom, and she often told us she wanted to go home to Dad.  Our hearts are torn at losing Mom, but we know how happy she is in that land where “lonely” isn't known.

Mom truly was a homemaker and loved being at home.  We children all remember her delicious cooking, her large gardens and her sewing.  She was always busy serving us and others.  Mom taught us to share, first our toys, and then our time and talents.  Mom herself had been taught to work, and she taught us how to work, and that was her way of spending time with us, and us with her.  She taught us children to love and respect Dad by always standing with him.  Her greatest wish was that we would all be Christians and she taught us this by quietly living her own life close to the Lord.

Those left behind with lots of memories are five sons and four daughters: Roy and Donna of Roblin, Galen and Valerie of Stettler, Alberta, Karen and Earl Reimer of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, Ralph and Wanda of Stettler, Bruce and Laurie of Roblin, Calvin and Roxine of Roblin, Connie and Arlo Schneider of Stapleton, Georgia, Ruth and Clayton Wiebe of Swanson, Saskatchewan, and Lois Wiebe of Bow Island, Alberta, along with 34 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters: Lillie Penner, sister-in-law Margaret Friesen, Alphae and Alba Friesen, Lawrence and Wilma Friesen, Martha Friesen, Ervin and Norma Friesen, Denton and Diana Friesen, Doris and Denver Wiebe; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Ted and Dora Wiebe, Nellie Wohlgemuth, Alma Wiebe, Hank Wieler, Leonard and Irma Dueck, Jake and Viola Wohlgemuth, Cornie and Velma Wiebe, Eugene and Lottie Quasso, Peter and Norma Wiebe.

Preceding her in death were her husband Edwin, her parents, her parents-in-law, one brother, one sister, four brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and one granddaughter.

Pre Service was held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 7:00 PM from the Church of God In Christ Mennonite, Roblin, Manitoba.
