Theresa Lungal

Theresa Ann LUNGAL Born June 16, 1951, ~ August 14, 2024. Aged 73 years.

           Theresa Ann Lungal was born on June 16, 1951, in the town of Roblin, Manitoba. She was the first of six children. Theresa took her schooling in Rochedale and Inglis and graduated from the Russell Major Pratt High School. After graduating, she moved to Winnipeg with our cousin Bev Prokopetz where they both found jobs.

           Theresa worked hard and long all her life. Theresa was a server – to everyone. She put 100% into everything she did. Her last healthy years were working alongside her daughter Jenna at the penalty box. She rolled out the best cookies and burgers in Manitoba.

One of the highlights in Theresa’s life was to travel to Voloca in the Ukraine. First with her cousins on the Burla side, then two times with her sisters, nieces, and nephews. She was our voice with the language. She loved meeting all the family members from the Burla/Holopina side. They were all very sad to hear of her passing.

           Our Burla reunion three weeks ago, allowed her to attend for a short time and see and reconnect with her cousins.

For the past few years, Theresa dealt with COPD, cancer and macular degeneration. She struggled with this immensely and always fought to get better. She was always positive.

Left to mourn her loss are her children, son Lawrie and Shelly; son Jamie; son Jeremy, Anna and her special grandchildren, Arabella and Jacob. Her daughter and best friend Jenna, Matt and Hannah. Sister; Karen, Gerry, Nolan, Steph and Carl; sister Lorna, Dennis, Crystal, Ryan and Alex; sister Angie, Cory, Justine, Christian, Dane and Amy; sister, Jackie, Lloyd, Skylar, Larissa, Nick and our little Finnick.  

One of her best days was meeting him two weeks ago. And not to forget her sister-in-law Lee, who through thick and thin was always there to support Theresa. Remember, she loved every one of you.

Theresa was predeceased by her mom and dad, Vera and Bill Burla, brother Barry, and her granddaughter Shia.

We would like to thank our family and friends for all their support and kind words during this sad and difficult time.

A Prayer Service in memory of Theresa was held on August 19, 2024, at the NairnChyz-Wolkowski Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Service was held on August 20, 2024, at the St. Elijah Romanian Orthodox Church with Father Andrew and Father Michael officiating.
