In Loving Memory of
Teenie Slobozian
1917 – 2014
Teenie Slobozian, age 96 years of Roblin, Manitoba, and formely of Petlura, Manitoba, and Shortdale, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 6, 2014 at Crocus Court Personal Care Home in Roblin.
Teenie Komaransky was born July 8, 1917 at Olha, Manitoba, a daughter of Bill and Magdoline (nee Slone) Komoransky. Teenie was one of fourteen children, and as a child she attended school for a short time before realizing she could be more help on the farm.
The family moved to the Petlura District in 1928 where they continued to farm and although they experienced many hardships they still managed to attend church on a regular basis and always made time for their friends and family.
Through mutual friends Teenie met John Slobozian and the two quickly hit it off and fell in love. Teenie and John were united in Holy Matrimony on April 20, 1944 at Sugarloaf, Manitoba. Following their marriage Teenie and John farmed together at Petlura and raised their three children, Martha, Mike and Joe.
In 1967, Teenie and John purchased a farm in the Shortdale District where they resided until their retirement to Roblin in 1995.
Through thick and thin, good times and bad, the two never left each other’s side until John’s passing in 2008.
During her life Teenie held many different jobs. She was a cook at a sawmill in the Duck Mountains as well at Hamiota. She also helped out many farmers in the district who were in need of extra help but most importantly she loved being a wife and mother.
In her spare time Teenie enjoyed mushroom picking, gardening, cooking and fishing with her favourite rod she had proudly nicknamed “her little darling” and probably because a lot of times she was the only one who caught fish wherever they went.
Anyone who knew Teenie will tell you she was the type of person you would love to have as a friend or neighbour. She was warm, friendly and had a heart of gold. Teenie was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and friend.
Tennie was part of the community at Crocus Court Personal Care Home for the past four years.
