Stella (nee Ewanyshyn) Sidlar passed away peacefully at the Grandview Personal Care Home on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the age of 87 years.
Stella Ewanyshyn was born November 26, 1927 at Rossburn, Manitoba, the eldest daughter of Sam and Annie (nee Charney) Ewanyshyn.
Stella received her education at Blackstone School in the Grandview District and was united in marriage to Joseph Sidlar in 1948. Following their marriage, Stella and Joseph farmed together and raised their three sons and two daughters in the Pleasant Valley District. Stella was a caring Mother, Baba, and great Baba and always had her family come first. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flower gardens, as well as baking, cooking and of course perogie making. No one ever left their home hungry.
Card games were a common form of entertainment during the winter months. Crocheting and sewing were also a great passion.
Stella belonged to the Sisterhood of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Petlura. She also volunteered for the Red Cross for many years.
