Shirley met and later married Edwin Olson of Bield, Manitoba on November 10, 1953.  They farmed on the Olson farm until 1995, at which time they sold the farm, and bought a house in Roblin.

Shirley enjoyed gardening, knitting, embroidery, and crocheting.  Shirley also belonged to the Bield Ladies Club for 25 years.  She enjoyed having friends and family over for coffee, cards, and visiting.

Following the service, a memorial reception was held in the auditorium of Knox United Church.

Shirley was carried to her final resting place in Bield Cemetery by the casket bearers; Tyler Olson, Stephen Kuzuchar, Eric Olson, Dwight Williamson, Wayne Williamson and Brent Williamson.

You can shed tears that she is gone

Or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back

Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her

Or you can be full of the love you shared

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday

Or you can be happy for tomorrow, because of yesterday

You can remember her and only that she's gone

Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on…
