Welcome to the memorial page for

Roy Walker

July 7, 1922 ~ February 1, 2013 (age 90) 90 Years Old

In Loving Memory of

Roy Walker

1922 - 2012

It is with great love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Roy Walker on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Grandview District Hospital, at the age of 90 years.

Roy was born on July 7, 1922 at Stonewall, Manitoba, a son of Tom and Sylvia (nee Park) Walker.

Roy served his country honourably during World War II as a Bren Gun Carrier Driver with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. When he returned from overseas, he used his skills as a driver working for the Saskatchewan Transportation Company, Prairie Gas and Steel Gas.

On May 21, 1970 Roy was united in marriage to Aline Florence Prince at Thompson, Manitoba.  When he retired from Steel gas at the age of 64, Roy and Lynn moved from Thompson to the Grandview area to fulfill Roy’s dream of farming.

An avid marksman as well as a profound lover of animals and the natural world, Roy was at his happiest in the bush whether he was hunting or just observing wild life in its natural habitat.

Roy was a member of Grandview Hiram Masonic Lodge # 94 and the Royal Canadian Legion, Grandview Branch # 14.

Roy is survived by his wife Lynn; son Robert (Deirdre); daughters Shirley, Brenda, Paulette and Jackie; grandchildren David (Marcelle); Lee (Claire); Suzette (Dave); Ryan; Paul (Laura); James (Lorna) and Lauren; great-grandchildren Thomas; Charlotte and Florence; brother Gordon (Lil); sister Yvonne (David); and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no formal Funeral Service at this time and Interment will be held at a later date at Regina, Saskatchewan.

Memorial Gifts to honour Roy’s life may be given to a charity of one’s choice.

The family wishes to thank Lorna Morran, Bruce & Carolyn Crossley, Lyle Morran, Glen Turner, Vic and Ina Cruickshank, Pauline Suidy, the doctors and staff at the Grandview Hospital and all those in the community of Grandview who may be unknown to us who made it possible for Roy to remain in the home he loved.
