Rose Mymko Obituary

MYMKO, Rose Born March 23, 1925 – July 21, 2024 Aged 99 years.

With great sadness, Rose Mymko passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the age of 99 years at the Roblin Crocus Court Personal Care Home. She was born March 23, 1925, to Harry and Anna Nowasad (nee Boguska) in the Hillsburg Municipality Merridale District. Rose grew up in Merridale, Manitoba and attended school there as well. Rose had a son named Ronnie Chernesky from her first marriage. Then on August 23, 1961, Rose married, Mike Mymko and farmed in the Pleasant Valley District, Grandview, Manitoba. Upon their retirement, they moved to the town of Grandview in 1973. Rose was a member of the St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Merridale and All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Grandview. In 2007, Rose moved to Roblin and resided at the Roblin Residence Apartments where she then became a member of the St. John Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Roblin, Manitoba.

Rose was also a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Women’s Association. She wasn’t afraid to lend a helping hand when things were going on at the church or the W.A. She was a very generous person. She loved gardening; always grew a big garden, as well as always had lots of flowers around the house. Her past times were playing cards, canasta, and solitaire. She also loved crocheting, making many doilies and Afghans.

Rose loved cooking, mainly potato pancakes and Borsch. Everyone at the Roblin Residence Apartments had a taste of her cooking. In 2023, she was admitted to the Roblin Crocus Court Personal Care Home up until her passing on July 21, 2024.

Roses is survived by her son; Ronnie Chernesky, grandchildren; Sean Chernesky, and Brandy Merrick, great-grandchildren; Kyle Chernesky, Anastasia and Samantha Merrick, one great-great grandson; Kaden Chernesky, one stepdaughter; Diana Mymko and numerous stepchildren and nieces, and nephews.

Rose was predeceased by her husband; Mike, parents; Harry and Anna, daughter-in-law; Penny, brothers; Mike, Philip, Peter, Paul, Nick Steve and Bill, and sisters; Sophie, Pauline, Catherine, Mary, Victoria, Helen, Eva, and Olga.

A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from The Roblin St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church in with Father Brent Kuzyk officiating. Interment was held at the St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery in Merridale, Manitoba. Donations in memory of Rose can be made to the St. John Ukrainian Orthodox Church - 106 Roblin, Manitoba ROL 1P0.
