Richard Edel

     Edel, Richard Wilfred February 12, 1938 - April 14, 2018 

     With great sadness we announce the passing of husband and father, Richard Wilfred Edel.  Richard was the youngest and only son of Adam and Natalie (Dolly) Edel.  He was born and raised in the Hillsburg Municipality.  He was raised on the farm where he learned his fathers’ trades as he grew up.  He received his education at the Grainfields Country School.  As a teen he worked on the farm that he later bought from his father.  Richard had the joy of meeting and marrying Betty (Rowan) from Dropmore, Manitoba on December 18, 1964.  This marriage was blessed with one son Terry.

     Richard also inherited a lot of experience in musical instruments, mechanical use of machinery and tools, as well as vehicles of all kinds.  He built and operated saw mills for his own use for building.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends whenever he had the chance.  Fishing with friends was one of his favorite pastimes.

     Richard will be greatly missed by his wife Betty and son Terry (Gladys), and several nieces and nephews.  Richard was predeceased by his parents Adam and Dolly Edel; sisters Lena Haberstock, Martha Edel, and Bertha Meehan.

     Funeral Service was held Thursday, April 19, 2018 from the Chapel of NairnChyz-Wolkowski Funeral Home in Roblin, Manitoba with Reverend Jenny Sprong officiating.  Those who so wish may make memorial donations to the Expanding Community Cancer Care, c/o Living Legacy Community Foundation.  To leave a note of condolence for the family, please visit Nairn-chyzfuneralhome.com
