In Loving Memory of

Patricia Irene McDuffe

1922 – 2016

Patricia Irene McDuffe, aged 94 years, of Roblin, Manitoba passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Crocus Court Personal Care Home in Roblin.

Pat was the third child born to George and Marguerite (nee Porteous) Fisher on March 17, 1922 in Roblin. She took her schooling in Roblin, earning the Governor General's award for excellence. After completing school she obtained employment in the Roblin bank as a clerk, where she worked for nine years and then on to various parts of Manitoba.

In 1949 she married Jack McDuffe, of Roblin. Two sons were born, Gar in 1950 and Bill in 1952, while they lived in Manitoba. In 1955, the small family moved to Alberta, where it blossomed to a family of eight. Donna was born in 1956, Terri in 1958, Karen in 1965 and Sandra in 1967.

Jack’s work took them to several cities and towns in Alberta as well as moves to Winnipeg and Chatham, Ontario. Their final move was a return to the prairies, west of Roblin. Pat juggled home life, yard work, springtime employment at Jakeman’s Insurance, and farming.  She could often be seen in the dairy barn doing nightly chores and milking cows. She was an amazing mother and wife.

Pat enjoyed movies, reading, animals, playing the occasional game of bingo with her friends and spending time with her family. A quote taken from a memoire Pat wrote, reads: “Each child was a blessed addition and it’s so wonderful to have such loving children. They were such a joy to me in their early years and continue to be in my senior years.”

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Marguerite and George; two brothers, Mark and Gib Fisher; and a sister Eunice Hamilton.

Pat is survived by her brother Lee Fisher; sons Gar and Bill McDuffe; daughters Donna, Terri, Karen, and Sandra; her children’s spouses and many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A Private family Funeral Service was held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Chapel of Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin officiated by Reverend Mark Hammond.  Bob and Betty Dayson led the musical selections “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain”.

Pat was laid to rest next to her beloved husband Jack McDuffe in the Roblin District Cemetery.   Following the Interment Service, a reception for family was held at Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home.
