Myrtle Irene Nattrass, age 79 years of Roblin, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
Irene was born on February 19, 1938 in Holland, Manitoba to Arthur and Edna (nee Rutherford) Matthews.
Irene grew up and attended school in Holland. She worked as a Telephone Operator in Holland. She also worked at the Post Office in Holland and Basswood, Manitoba. After they moved to Roblin, Manitoba she worked for ten years at the Roblin District Health Center before retiring.
On May 2, 1959, Irene married Bill Nattrass in Holland, Manitoba. Irene and Bill resided in Brandon, Manitoba for three years. Their sons, Terry and Scott were born in Brandon. In 1962, the family moved back to Holland. There they had two more children, Kirk and Kim. In 1973 the family moved to Basswood, Manitoba where they resided for three years. Then in 1976, the family moved to Roblin, Manitoba.
Irene had a love for baking (everyone loved her baking especially her home made buns), knitting, crocheting, sewing, gardening and camping. Her greatest times were spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her many friends.
Irene was predeceased by her husband, Bill Nattrass; her parents, Arthur and Edna (nee Rutherford) Matthews; her brother, Walter Matthews; her father and mother-in-law, John and Margaret (nee Gibbons) Nattrass and her brother-in-law, Cyril DeTimmerman.
Irene is survived by her three sons, Terry Nattrass, Scott (Leann) Nattrass, Kirk (Melanie) Nattrass; her daughter, Kim (Dwayne) Nattrass; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; her sister-in-laws, Shirley Matthews and Margaret DeTimmerman; brother-in-law, Noel ( Sandi) Nattrass; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Irene's Funeral Service was held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin with Pastor Warren Ironstand officiating. Terlyn Nattrass Goertz delivered the eulogy. The organist, Laurie Moffat and soloist, Alissa Moffat led the hymns "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace".
Following the service, a memorial reception was held at Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home. An interment Service will be held at a later date.
