In Loving Memory of

Myron Jacob Yakimishyn

October 22, 1943 - July 23, 2015

Myron Jacob Yakimishyn, age 71 years of Roblin, Manitoba passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Crocus Court Personal Care Home in Roblin.

Myron was born on October 22, 1943 to Mervin and Betty (nee Styba) Yakimishyn.  He was the second eldest of 5 children.  He is survived by his siblings Marie (Herman) Hampton of Vernon, B.C., Ron (Rosemary) Yakimishyn of Roblin, Angela Killen of Enderby B.C. and Greg (Margaret) Yakimishyn of Calgary, Alberta.  Myron will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and other extended family, as well as a host of friends.

He was predeceased by his father and mother Mervin & Betty, brothers-in-law Reg Edwards, Merle Killen and Glenn Newman as well as many  aunts, uncles and other family members.

All who knew Myron knew him as a gentle, considerate person with a firm handshake and a great smile.  He would speak when he wanted to, but always left an impression on you.  Perhaps it was the handshake.  He loved visits from family and friends and would always ask about family members, roads and the weather.

Myron enjoyed music (his favorite was Johnny Cash), puzzles, TV game shows such as Jeopardy, the Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune.  He had an awesome pen and pencil collection from around the world.  He was amazing at math, could carry a dozen eggs in one hand, and knew by memory phone numbers and license plate numbers of everyone he knew.  He was an altar server at St Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church all of his life.

Myron lived on the farm north of Roblin most of his life.  He spent a short time at the Roblin Residence until declining health put him into Crocus Court Personal Care Home. He made many friends at these two places.

A Prayer Vigil Service was held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 7:00 PM at the Chapel of the Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin, with Father Mykhailo Khomitskyy officiating.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Father Mykhailo Khomitskyy officiating. The Cantor was Victor Sorochuk, Cross Bearer was Mike Kosinski, and the Altar Server was Brian Senderewich. The Eulogy was delivered by Myron’s niece, Elizabeth Hautzinger.

Casket Bearers Dennis Mysko, Boris Yakimishyn, Terrance Styba, Ron Kozak, Brant Yakimishyn and Ernie Toth carried Myron to his final resting place in St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery.

Following the Interment Service, a memorial reception was held in St. Michael’s Parish Hall, hosted by the St. Michael’s Ladies.

Myron will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
