In Loving Memory of
Mike Bancarz
1917 – 2013
Mike Bancarz, age ninety six years of Roblin, Manitoba, passed away Friday December 20, 2013 at Crocus Court Personal Care Home.
Mike was born in Otton, Saskatchewan to Vincent and Anastasia Bancarz on September 11, 1917. He was the second born to the family of four children; two brothers Joe and John and sister Antonia who married Pete Zibresky.
Mike’s family moved to the Silverwood district and he spent much of his young adult life farming there with his mother and father and brother John.
In 1965, Mike married Evelyn Bouvier, and immediately became a part of her family. He gained a stepson, Wilfred Bouvier, along with his wife Yvette, and five children David, Robin, Donna, Donald and Maxine. He also gained a stepdaughter, Dianne who later married Bill Angus and had three children: Geoffrey, Jeremy and Jennifer. Over the years Mike’s adopted family grew into eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
After getting married and moving to Roblin, Mike worked as a carpenter’s assistant for several years. Then Mike and Evelyn and his brother John went to work for the community pastures in Saskatchewan- Mike and Albert, fencing, while Evelyn was their crew cook. Later, Mike was employed by the Roblin Creamery, picking up cream from local area farms and delivering it to the local creamery.
Mike was always a reliable and hard worker. Once he retired there was his new career- fishing! He loved gardening and picking berries and then preserving the vegetables and fruit he gathered. Sharing food, breaking bread with his family and friends was where he found his joy in life.
He was always willing to help his family and friends in any way he could because he valued his family and friends.
Mike lived on his own in his home until he was ninety three years old. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends or meeting them up town for coffee.
Mike entered Crocus Court Personnel Care Home at ninety three years of age. The staff there always enjoyed him, and he appreciated all that they did each and every day. They are very special people and again we say Thank You. He was always happy, and was always ready for the next laugh. Mike enjoyed ninety six years of life, and we celebrate that long life, now fulfilled.
Mike was predeceased by his parents Vincent and Anastasia, his brothers Joe (Sophie) and John, and sister Antonia (Pete) Zibresky, his wife Evelyn, his grandson Geoffrey Angus, great grandson Christopher Bouvier and foster son Eugene Lavallee.
Surviving to mourn Mike’s death and cherish fond memories are; Son, Wilfred (Yvette) Bouvier of Boggy Creek, Manitoba, Daughter Dianne (Bill) Angus of Roblin, seven Grandchildren, fifteen Great-Grandchildren and two Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Also surviving is Sister-in-law Jessie Bancarz of Medicine Hat, Alberta.
