COTE, Marilyn Louise Born September 18, 1958 – June 25, 2025. Aged 66 years.
In extreme sadness, we announced the loss of Marilyn Louise Cote. She was born in Portage la Prairie on September 18, 1958. Marilyn suddenly passed away much too soon on June 25, 2025.
Marilyn leaves to mourn many as she was the beloved wife of Rene Cote. The loving mother to Cory (Jen) and Aaron, as well as Shelby, Rachel, and Dorothy, as if they were her own. She loved her grandchildren, Tyson, Hayley, Sage, Max, Will and Brynn more than life itself. She was also the daughter-in-law of Violet Cote. She will be greatly missed by her siblings, siblings-in-law and many others as well.
She was predeceased by her son, Mikey; her parents, Mary and George Lawford; and her father-in-law, Arthur Cote.
She had a very special place in her heart for Uncle Max.
Marilyn grew up in Portage la Prairie alongside her brother Richard (Barbara) Lawford. She then met the love of her life, Rene Cote, and had three beautiful and busy boys, Cory, Aaron and Mikey Cote. Marilyn took great joy in being outside snowmobiling, fishing, camping, and enjoying time with friends and family.
Her passion was her foster children. Over the years, she mothered many. She cared for every single one in a very special way, as if they were her own.
In 2010, she moved to the Duck Mountains, where she enjoyed the peace in nature and all the outdoors.
Marilyn loved to cook and cooked with all of her heart. “Mom we will miss your recipes; our wild meat will never be the same.”
With great strength over the past few years, she battled multiple health issues. Much too soon, she left this world and is now pain-free with her son Mikey.
We will never forget you, Gramma!
As per Marilyn’s wishes, there will be no public services held.
