Marie grew up in the Tummel District and received her education there as well. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Shevlin.

Marie was united in Holy Matrimony to William Zimmer of the Shevlin District on October 19, 1939 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Shevlin. God blessed this union with three daughters.  Marie and Bill raised their family and farmed in the Shevlin District and in 1990 they retired to Roblin. Marie resided in her home at 82 Newton Bay in Roblin until her passing.

Marie enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved visits from her family and friends. She received much pleasure from playing various card games, watching golf, football and curling with her son-in-law Vic. A special time for her also was when the Lutheran Quartet entertained at her home.

Marie will also be missed by her seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Marie was predeceased in death by her parents; Jacob and Ernestine Schmollinger, her husband William Zimmer in 2000, her brothers; Jacob, Fred and Charlie Schmollinger, her sister; Nellie Andres, her brothers-in-law; Albert Liske, Fred Baumung, John Watson, Adolf Andres, and her sisters-in-law; Frieda Schmollinger and Molly Schmollonger.

Marie’s family gathered for a time of visitation at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Chapel of Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin.

Marie’s Funeral Service was held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2:00 PM at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Roblin.  The service was officiated by Pastor Barry Wood.  The Organist, Mrs. Debbie Funk led the congregational hymns “Just as I Am”, “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”, and “Nearer My God to Thee”.  The Lutheran Quartet performed “Take My Hand, Lead Me” and “Abide With Me”.

The Casket Bearers were Darren Dzikowski, Dean Dzikowski, Melanie Moore, Gerald Liske, Scott Lee and Mark Moore.  The Honorary Casket Bearers were members of the Lutheran Quartet and all of those who have shared in Marie’s life.
