In Loving Memory of

Margeurite Minnie Zimmer

1931 - 2012

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Marguerite Zimmer on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Grandview District Hospital in Grandview, Manitoba.

Mom was born on July 9, 1931 at Islay, Alberta and married Dad on November 14, 1952. They were inseparable spending the last sixty years raising a family, working side by side on the farm and then operating the barbershop / poolroom in Grandview.

Mom enjoyed their vacations to Hawaii, Mexico, Vegas and the East Coast. She loved her children and always enjoyed the family gatherings.

Mom took great pride in being a Volunteer Ambulance Attendant for eight years because it allowed her the opportunity to help others in need.

In later years gardening and tending her flowers brought her joy. There was always room in her garden for one more flower.

Marguerite was predeceased by her parents Tony and Hedwig Swan and brothers Charlie and Harold Swan.

Surviving to mourn Marguerite’s death is her husband of sixty years, Bert Zimmer of Grandview. Three children; Melfort (Audrey) Zimmer of Dauphin, Manitoba, Sheri Zimmer (Larry Schaab) of Oakbank, Manitoba, and Darlene Will of Medicine Hat, Alberta as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Marguerite’s Funeral Service was held Monday, November 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM from Grandview United Church with Pastor Ron Hagglund officiating under the auspices of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.  The organist, Mrs. Deneen Fisher led Grandview United Church Choir and the congregation in singing the hymns “Just As I Am”, and “Amazing Grace”. The Mennonite Choir sang the hymn “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be”. Sheri Zimmer delivered the Eulogy.

Honourary Casket Bearers were Kyle Katchur, Keith McKenzie, Ken McKenzie, and Alexander Will. Casket Bearers were Wilfred Zimmer, Gerald Zimmer, Dean Zimmer, Wayne Zimmer, Tyler Cherwayko and Larry Schaab.

Following the Funeral Service a reception for family and friends was held at the Grandview Family Worship Centre. Interment followed at Bethany South Cemetery, Inglis, Manitoba.

Mom you have earned your rest but we will miss you.

I Have a Place in Heaven

I have a place in heaven
Please don't sing sad songs for me,
Forget your grief and fears,
For I am in a perfect place
Away from pain and tears.
It's far away from hunger
And hurt and want and pride,
I have a place in Heaven
With the Master at my side.
My life on earth was very good,
As earthly life can go,
But Paradise is so much more
Than anyone can know.
My heart is filled with happiness
And sweet rejoicing, too.
To walk with God is perfect peace,
A joy forever new
