In Loving Memory of
Margaret Rose Kapetz
1937 - 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Kapetz on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Crocus Court Personal Care home in Roblin, Manitoba.
Margaret Rose Kapetz (nee Shewchuk), was born February 27, 1937 in Macnutt, Saskatchewan. Marge was the third of four children born to Nicholas and Annie (nee Rubletz) Shewchuk.
She grew up on the family farm where she helped her mother in the garden and around the house, and her father with the cows, sheep and chickens.
Marge attended school in MacNutt, getting there and back in a horse drawn buggy in the summer and in the winter, traveling in a horse drawn caboose that her father had made. During the summer break, Marge enjoyed taking a dip in the slough out behind the house.
When Marge was finished school she moved to Winnipeg where she worked as a live in nanny. This is where she met and fell in love with Peter Kapetz, who she married on October 11, 1958. After Marge and Peter were married they made their home on the family farm in Merridale with Peter's parents.
They worked side by side on the farm and raised four wonderful children. Their family started with their first child, Barbara, then Helen was second, followed by their only son Nicholas and last, but not least, Theressa.
Marge had many interests and was always busy with something. She helped with Ukrainian dancing and embroidered and sewed the dance costumes for her children. An active member of the ladies auxillary where she served many terms as treasurer. During summer months she was very busy in her garden and helping Peter with the farm. In the winter she would be busy with cross stitching and embroidering many items for her friends and family.
Marge was famous for her delicious chocolates which she enjoyed making and selling at craft sales. She was also known for her huge heart of gold. She was always there for everyone and was quick to lend a helping hand, or a sympathetic ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. It was often said that she was golden on the inside and out. She was an amazing cook whose recipes could not be duplicated. The grandchildren were often heard saying, "Baba's tasted better!"
