Leonard Martin was born on December 29th, 1928 to Phillion and Beatrice Martin of the Boggy Creek area and was one of eleven children.
He was a hard working man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing the odd joke on friends and family. Every one knew him as Chinum (small man) in mischief given to him out of fun and respect by his family. He married Bertha Langan in 1955 and they raised nine children.
He always worked hard to provide for his family doing what ever labour he could find. Some of the jobs included farmhand, logging, building log homes for mountain log builders, and repairing grain elevators along side his son Rene. He was also great at hunting, fishing, gathering and enjoyed his Métis heritage.
He was a bit of a shy man but always took time to enjoy the company of friends, family, and acquaintances, especially his grandchildren & great grandchildren In his latter years faith and church was important to him and enjoyed going to mass every week.
He leaves behind so many family and friends that will miss him dearly but we can take comfort knowing he is in a better place of peace.
He was a strong, caring and loving man. That is his legacy and it will remain in our hearts forever.
