Kenneth Joyner Boyce, age 98 years, of Roblin, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at Roblin District Health Centre on Tuesday, December 31, 2013.
Ken was born July 6th, 1915 at home in the RM of Shell River, Manitoba, a son of Albert and Lizzie (nee Joyner) Boyce.
Ken married Gertrude May McGinnis at Makaroff, Manitoba on October 25, 1939. This union was blessed with four sons. He farmed in the Makaroff District his whole life, until he retired to Roblin in 2004.
He enjoyed the farm life and his family. He loved going for drives and having people in to visit. He lived long enough to see his grandchildren grown and settled and saw the start of the next generation. He was very proud of them all.
Ken was predeceased by his wife Gertie, his parents Albert & Lizzie, his only sibling Elsie (Sylvester) McGinnis and numerous other relatives.
Ken is survived by his sons; Earl (Margaret), Neal (Jeanette), Larry (Dawna), and Kelly (Twila), Six Grandchildren; Lori (Brad), Christa (Chris), Tricia (Jay), Janelle (Aaron), Jenna (Kris), and Wade (Britteny). He had nine great grandchildren; Jaxen, Cooper, Lucas, Maguire, Griffin, Chloe, Parker, Brielle and Marek. He is also survived by his three brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews as well as special friend Irene Bangle.
Family called to pay their respects at the Chapel of Nairn–Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM.
Ken was laid to rest at a Private Burial Service at the Makaroff Cemetery on Saturday, January 4th, 2014 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Randy Moffit officiating. Casket Bearers were Wade Boyce, Jenna Boyce, Chris Cels, Brad Wychopen, Jay Brown, Aaron Ashcroft.
Funeral Service was held at the Chapel of Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Randy Moffit officiating. Bob and Betty Dayson sang the “Old Rugged Cross” and then led the congregation in singing “Precious Lord Take My Hand”, and “Just As I Am”. Ken’s Granddaughters, Lori Wychopen, Christa Cels, Janelle Ashcroft and Trisha Brown delivered the Eulogy.
Following the Funeral Service a reception was held from the Banquet Room at Chicken Chef in Roblin.
