In Loving Memory of
Harry Huta
May 23, 1926 - January 21, 2013
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our brother and uncle Harry on Monday, January 21st, 2013, at the age of 86 at the Grandview District Hospital in Grandview, Manitoba.
Harry was born in the RM of Silver Creek, Manitoba. He was the youngest of ten children born to Charles Wasyl and Sophie (nee Gensorek) Huta. Harry attended Balfour school just down the road from his parent’s farm and went to high school in Angusville followed with one year of college in Saskatoon.
He came back to farm with his parents and in 1944, they moved to a farm near Russell. Unfortunately, his mother passed away suddenly in late 1948 and he continued to farm and take care of his Dad. Also suddenly in 1958, his Dad passed away and Harry continued farming until 1970, when he sold the farm. He moved to Birtle, Manitoba for one year, then to Roblin, Manitoba for two years and finally to Yorkton, Saskatchewan in 1974 where he worked at the hospital for 19 years. During this time, he lived with the love of his life, Anne Nykyforak. After she passed away, he moved to Grandview in 2000 to be near his sister Jean.
Harry enjoyed farming, especially cattle and gardening and even after selling his own farm, he came to help Steve and Harry with harvest and baling. After he retired, he was able to spend more days fishing, going for drives, and spending time with family. He made a few great friends in Yorkton and Grandview. His greatest enjoyment by far, was playing cards, whether it was cribbage or canasta.
He was a loyal member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church all his life. When he was healthier, he was a hard worker and dedicated employee.
He was predeceased by his brother Mike and sister-in-law Helen, his brother Tony and sister-in-law Mary, brother Steve, brother Nick and sister-in-law Lena, sister Eva Lesiuk and brother-in-law Paul, brother-in-law Harry Komaransky, sister-in-law Cassie, brothers-in-law Nick Boryskavich, Mike Boryskavich and Mike Humenny and a few nieces and nephews.
Harry is survived by his sisters Annie Humenny in Shoal Lake Care Home, Mary Boryskavich in Russell, Jean Komaransky in Grandview, his brother John Huta in Roblin, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Prayer Services were held Friday, January 25th, 2013, at 7:00 PM at the Chapel of Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin.
Harry’s Funeral Service was held at on Saturday, January 26th, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the Grandview United Church with Rev. Fr. Brent Kuzyk officiating, assisted by the Roblin Orthodox Choir. Lawrence Komaransky and Marie-Anne Cairns delivered the Eulogy.
Casket Bearers were Lawrence Komaransky, Blaire Cairns, Vern Effa, Russell Huta, Peter Boryskavich and Mike Cherneski.
Following the Interment Services in Grandview District Cemetery, a memorial lunch was served by the Grandview United Church Women.
Today, we say goodbye to a brother and uncle as he takes his place with the Lord. We, his family and friends, remember him with love and understanding. His suffering on earth is no more.
