Gordon Alexander Bouvier, age 73 years, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2014, at Deer Lodge Centre, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Gordon was born at Boggy Creek, Manitoba on August 3, 1940 and was a son of Patrick and Agnes (nee Burwash) Bouvier. Gordon attended both the Happy Lake and Grand Prairie Schools and entered the workforce after he completed Grade VII. He entered the workforce at a very young age, and his first job was with Midwest Drilling in Snow Lake, Manitoba. After diamond drilling, he began working as an underground miner. Gordon was united in Holy Matrimony to Marie Jerome on April 17, 1961. Although Gordon worked in a few different jobs throughout his life, he always returned to working in the mining industry which was one of his passions in life. Mining most of his life- from the potash mines in Saskatchewan to mining in the NWT and Northern Manitoba. Gordon and Marie moved a lot over the years, settling in Flin Flon for a few years before buying their retirement home at Boggy Creek. After taking a couple of years off to settle in their new home, Gordon decided to go back to work. As a result of a mining accident on March 2, 1996, Gordon was hospitalized for 2 years then lived at home with his wife Marie with the help of a nurse agency from 1998 to 2008. At this time, he was moved to Deer Lodge Center in Winnipeg where he resided until his passing. Gordon’s hobbies included camping and fishing and he loved the outdoors. He loved music and dancing. The most important thing in his life was spending time with his family and friends. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith.
Gordon was predeceased by his Parents, Patrick and Agnes (nee Burwash) Bouvier; Brothers, Gerald and Ralph Bouvier and Infant Daughter Lynn Marie.
Surviving to mourn Gordon’s death and cherish many fond memories are his beloved wife of 53 years, Marie Bouvier of Winnipeg; Sons, Dan (Heather) Bouvier of Boggy Creek, Rod (Marie) Bouvier of Powerview, Manitoba, Lyle (Laurie) Bouvier of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; nine Grandchildren and Two Great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his Sister Lorraine (Louis) Allarie of Boggy Creek; Sister-in-law, Gloria Bouvier of Flin, Flon; Auntie, Irene (Del) Funk of Roblin as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM from Ste. Claire Roman Catholic Church in San Clara, Manitoba, with Rev. Fr. James Ahaneku officiating. The hymns were sung by Connie Henry, Brian Paul and Rev. Paul Bisson. Lisa and Alyssa Bouvier read the Scripture Lessons. Mr. Les Jerome delivered the Eulogy. The Urn Bearer was Sean Bouvier. Following the Interment Service at Ste. Claire Parish Cemetery, a luncheon was held from the San Clara Recreation Centre.
