In Loving Memory of

George Andrusiak

1935 – 2013

George Andrusiak passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Regina General Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan at the of age 77 years.

George Andrusiak was born December 28, 1935 in Kamsack, Saskatchewan to Alex and Mary (nee Koroluk) Andrusiak.  He was the youngest of three children.

George attended Makaroff School and Popular Point School near Togo, Saskatchewan.  As a youngster, he helped on the family farm.  George headed to Thompson, Manitoba and Snow Lake, Manitoba to work at a young age.  He also worked various other places in the construction industry.

George met Doreen Redman in 1959.  They were married on May 27, 1961 in the United Church at Silverwood, Manitoba.  After they were married George worked in Northern Alberta, building the Mackenzie Highway.  In 1965, George and Doreen moved to the Esterhazy area and he began work at the K2 mine site.  They parked their trailer in the yard of Adam and Eleanor Husnik’s farmyard until 1968, when they moved to Gerald, Saskatchewan, where they lived ever since.  George always still called Roblin and Togo Area home.

In 1969, George went to work at PCS at Rocanville, Saskatchewan as an Industrial Mechanic for the next thirty years.  George retired in 1999.

George always enjoyed putting in his garden every spring and tinkering around in his sheds.  George could not sit at home for very long, so whether it was going for a drive for a lotto ticket or a drive to the farm, George was always on the go.

After retirement, George and Doreen purchased a motor home and toured Alaska and British Columbia.  George enjoyed their seasonal campsite at Lost Meadows where he and Doreen spent many weeks relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the Assiniboine Valley.

George was always there to cheer on his grandchildren. Whether it was watching his grandsons play hockey and baseball or his granddaughter in gymnastics and basketball, he was always there to cheer them on.  He was proud to attend each of their graduations and to celebrate with them.

George was predeceased by his parents Alex and Mary Andrusiak and members of the Redman family. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Doreen Andrusiak of Gerald; son Brian (Janice) Andrusiak of Gerald; daughter Brenda (Glen) Bartok of Buena Vista, Saskatchewan; and grandchildren Michael and Scott Bartok, Ashley, Brayden, Mitchell and Bailey Andrusiak. Also surviving are brother Bill (Bernice) Andrusiak of Yorkton, Saskatchewan; sister Eva (George) Halirewich of Roblin; and numerous nieces and extended family.

George’s Funeral Service was held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Nairn–Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin with Mrs. Grace Skomorowski officiating.
