Donna Louise Christina Juba
1946 – 2014
Donna Louise Christina Juba, age 67 years of Dauphin, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre.
Donna Louise Christina Miller was born September 30, 1946 at Birtle, Manitoba, to William and Hazel (nee Major) Miller of Birtle, Manitoba.
Donna attended Birtle Elementary School and Birtle Collegiate Institute.
Donna married Peter Juba on July 8, 1961 at Birtle. They started their married life in Roblin, Manitoba and later moved to Grandview, Manitoba, where Donna was a stay at home mother while raising her five children. This was an undertaking she completed to the best of her ability all the while being an excellent support to her children. She instilled enormous values in her children’s day-to-day lives which have been unbending to this day. One of her many priorities was making certain her children attended church when they were growing up.
After moving to Dauphin, Donna’s circle of friends grew immensely and through her kindness and quiet ways she touched many people’s lives.
Donna attended First United Church as long as her health permitted her to do so.
During the past twenty years, Donna participated in the many activities at the High Rise and looked forward to Sunday evening services. She also was a member of the Hero Club and looked forward to bingo, camping and attending picnics at Vermillion Park. Donna always felt welcome to go across the street from the High Rise to the Salvation Army Citadel.
Donna was always devoted to her children, phoning on birthdays and being interested in what was going on in their lives.
Just recently, Donna became part of the community at Dauphin Personal Care Home where she was receiving excellent care.
Donna was predeceased in death by her parents, William and Hazel Miller, her special cousin Elwood Smith and her son-in-law John Jarman.
Surviving to mourn Donna’s death and cherish many fond memories are: five children, Lisa Jarman of Winnipeg; Joan Juba of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; Rodney (Kathy) Juba of Dauphin; Brian Juba of Winnipeg; and Michael (Danuta) Juba of Winnipeg; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Jada) Epp of Abbotsford, B.C.; Melissa Jarman (Jay) of Winnipeg; Nathan Jarman of Winnipeg; Victoria Pottinger of Winnipeg; as well as five great-grandchildren. Donna will also be missed by her sister, Connie Miller of Birtle; the father of Donna’s children, Peter Juba and wife Nellie of Olha; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, a large extended family and a host of friends.
Donna’s Funeral Service was held on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 2:00 PM at First United Church in Dauphin, with Reverend Larry McPhail officiating. Michael and Rodney Juba shared the Words of Remembrance. The Organist, Sandra Dowhan, led First United Church Choir and the congregation in singing the hymns “Come In, Come In, And Sit Down”, “In The Bulb There Is A Flower” and “Jesus Loves Me”. The Urn Bearer was Rodney Juba. All of Donna’s caregivers, family, and many friends were asked to consider themselves Honourary Bearers. An Honour Guard was formed by the Hero Club. The Recessional was “I Danced In The Morning”.
Following the service, a reception hosted by the First United Church UCW was held in the church hall. Interment will be held at the Birtle Cemetery at a later date.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond's gift of snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the autumn's gentle rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there
I did not die.
