Donald Diehl, age 68 years of MacNutt, Saskatchewan, and Roblin, Manitoba passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Regina General Hospital.
Donald was born on September 26, 1948 at Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Alexander and Wilhelmina (nee Baumung) Diehl. He attended school at MacNutt and Roblin. He later furthered his education in Yorkton to be able to care for seniors.
In addition to being a grain and cattle farmer, over the years Donald worked at building grain elevators, at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton and as a janitor at Churchbridge School.
On June 5, 2004, Donald married Shirley Tucker at Roblin.
Donald lived his whole life on the farm. He loved children and animals and he was a real “people person”. He touched so many lives and was such a wonderful husband to Shirley. He will be greatly missed
Donald was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Minny (nee Baumung) Diehl; his brother Alvin and Donna Diehl; his nephews, Murray Diehl and Bill Evans; his niece Jackie Adam and his stepson Chris Bork.
Surviving to mourn his passing and cherish many fond memories are, his beloved wife, Shirley Tucker of MacNutt and Roblin; his stepsons, Shane Bork (Tanya) of Regina, David Dawe of Calder, SK, Glen Dawe of Yorkton, Alvin Dawe (Tracie) of Medicine Hat, AB, Richard Dawe (Carmin) of Ebenezer, SK, and Dwayne Dawe (Candice) of Medicine Hat; his mother and father-in-law, Lenor and Larry Tucker of Roblin; and his brother, Delbert and Colleen Diehl of Calgary. Donald will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and other extended family members as well as members of the Tucker family.
A Funeral Service was held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Roblin Evangelical Mission Church, with Pastor Randy Moffit officiating. The organist, Mrs. Laurie Moffit led the congregational hymns, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace”. Special recorded music was “Tell Me About the Good Old Days”. The family requested that all in attendance consider themselves Honorary Casket Bearers.
The Casket Bearers, Gerald Schepp, Lawrence Antony, Rick Dawe, Alvin Dawe, Bob Benoite, and Ted Andres carried Donald to his final resting place in Roblin District Cemetery.
Following the Interment Service, a reception for family and friends was held in the auditorium of Evangelical Mission Church, hosted by the Evangelical Church Ladies.
