Cassie Bailey Obituary

BAILEY, Cassie Lena Born May 3, 1929 - May 14, 2024 aged 95 years.
Cassie was born on May 3, 1929 in the Hillsburg Municipality to parents Herbert and Annie Taylor.
She was the third of nine children. Cassie attended school in Gilbert SD no. 2210 up until grade 8 when she needed to be home to help out on the farm.
On July 6, 1949 Cassie married her best friend, William Bailey and they farmed together until he passed in 1996. Cassie continued on the farm with the gardens and cattle until she was in her 90’s.
Cassie’s greatest moments were the ones she spent with her family of four children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved her motor home trips with Mary and Albert to the States, bus trips with Florence and Annie, and train trips with Annie and Francis. A special trip was to Herbs outfit camp with Mary Ann.
Cassie’s biggest passions were her family, her amazing gardens; both the flower gardens and the vegetable garden, the cattle, horses and her love for jigsaw puzzles. One might say that one of Cassie’s life challenges were raising her family of four farm kids! Along with her fear of water that she never overcame after her experience of almost drowning in a boat as a young girl. Her fear of flying was also a challenge when it was the only way to get to brother-in-law Joe’s funeral! Cassie lived her life full of zeal and passion. She had a job to do and she did it well.
Cassie was predeceased by her husband, William Bailey, her parents Herbert and Annie Taylor, her brothers Mark Taylor and Fred Taylor, and sisters Lil, Mary, Liz, and Loraine.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Herbert Bailey, Mary Ann  (The late Ray) Shiner, Barry (Keitha) Bailey, Donalda (Jim) Proskie, her grandchildren Kyle Bailey (Joni), Heath (Hannah) Bailey, Craig Bailey (Krysta), Lance Bailey, Ginger Bailey, Jaye Bailey (Shelby), Kelsey (Nicole) Bailey, Cassandra (Dilan) Proskie-Hamel, Randi Proskie, Brice Proskie, William Thomas, and Weran Thomas, sisters Florence and Anne and her 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
