Buryle Doole Obituary

Doole, Buryle Patricia “Patsy” (nee Stauffer) passed away peacefully, on April 23, 2020 at the Roblin Hospital, with family at her side, at the age of 95 years.

Buryle was born March 17, 1925, in the Shell River Municipality, she was eldest child, of Earl and Hazel Stauffer (nee De La Mare). Buryle was baptised June 15, 1947 at the Tummel United Church. As a child, Buryle, spent many nights at her grandpa and grandma Joel Stauffer’s. When grandpa suddenly passed away in April 1930, she continued to live with grandma Edith Stauffer from the age of 5 until graduating grade 11. After that she took grade 12, which in those days was first year university. One of her first jobs was working in the office at Smellie Brothers Creamery, from 1943-1946.

On June 5, 1946, Buryle married William (Bill) John Anderson Doole. They began farming in the Tummel District of Manitoba. In August of 1947, Donna Lynn was born, followed by brother Leslie, in February 1949. In October 1949, they moved north of Dropmore to the “Birnie” place. It was there, that their second son Verne William was born in June 1953. In 1955, life became alot easier as electricity was installed in the district and the family settled on the “Browne” place across from the village of Dropmore. In April of 1964, their daughter Hazel Elizabeth was born.

Buryle milked cows, raised ducks, chickens, turkeys, geese and pigs. She gathered eggs, helped with haying, vaccinating cattle, prepared huge meals to feed the threshing crews, tended to sick animals and last but not least looked after the children.

Throughout the years Buryle was very involved with the United Church, Sunday School, 4-H, curling and many social events in the Inglis, Shellmouth, Russell, Roblin, MacNutt and Dropmore communities. She very much enjoyed her time practising and singing with the Dropmore Chicks.

In 1994, Bill passed away but Buryle stayed on the farm renting out the land. She sold the farm in August 1996 and moved into Roblin. In Roblin, Buryle became involved in everything! Such as Rebekah Lodge, Roblin Hospital Axillary, Drop-In Centre, United Church Women, Life and Arts Centre, Crocus Trail, Abortorium Trail, Red Hat Ladies Group, Keystone Pioneers Museum, Canadian Square and Round Dance Society, Roblin Community Foundation (Founders Club), Crafts for the hospital auxillary, Secret Prayer Pal Group, attending various functions, including going to church, meetings, funerals, luncheons, teas, visiting residents at the personal care and hospital, bake sales, working bingo, sewing, quilting, making and selling tickets, scrap books, pictures, write ups, delivering Meals on Wheels,  reading books and articles to patients in the hospital and Crocus Court, fall Fun Fairs. She was also the Past Noble Grand and D.D.P. of District 18, involved with swimming pool groups, 50 and over exercise groups. Buryle always had time for visitors or going out for lunch and supper.

Her greatest pride and joy were her 3 children, 13 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Buryle loved all flowers, birds and grew bountiful gardens through the years. She loved picking all the fruit to can and preserve, so they could be sampled at a later time. She had an amazing green thumb. Everyone will miss her jumbo chocolate chip cookies, puppy chow, raspberry and strawberry jams and pickled peas. We mostly will miss her kind, caring, generous, huge heart and smiling face.
