Brenda Roller Obituary

Brenda Louise Roller (nee Cusson) was born on March 4, 1950 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to parents Fred and Eileen Cusson, being the youngest of 4. Brenda completed her education in Prince Albert, where she met the love of her life, Emile Roller. They were married on October 18, 1969 in Prince Albert and moved to Winnipeg in 1970. In June of 1973 they welcomed their son, Craig, and settled in Roblin, Manitoba in 1974. One year later, in August 1975, they were blessed with the arrival of their daughter, Michelle. In 1976 Emile and Brenda purchased and started Emile’s Texaco, which they ran until its closing in 1983.  Brenda took a job at Saan store in Roblin and worked her way up into management. She held this position until the franchise closed. She was then hired as an employee at the Roblin Co-op and worked there until her retirement in 2015.  After only 1 year of retirement, missing her daily visits with the many friends and acquaintances she had come to know over her years spent at the Co-op, Brenda returned to the store as their demo lady.  Everyone was always excited to visit the Co-op on Fridays, where they knew they would find Brenda greeting them with a big smile, hear her infectious laugh and offer them something new and exciting from her food cart.  She was known by her unwavering kind smile as she greeted friends and customers.  However, she was not scared to slap your fingers if you tried to come back for thirds (unless you were a little person!)

Over the years, Brenda and Emile were involved in many community events and fundraisers dating back to their first years in Roblin. Some of these included Roblin Moonshine Days, street festivals, hospital fundraisers, Coats for Kids and various Roblin Fire Department events, to name a few.  She was known as a second mother and grandmother to many of Craig and Michelle’s friends.  Through the years of volunteering, Mr. and Mrs. Clause also made many appearances in Roblin and surrounding rural communities, making appearances at hospitals, personal care homes, and seniors’ residences.

When not volunteering, Brenda’s passions included camping, reading (she may or may not have read every Harlequin Romance novel ever written), knitting and crocheting (which was special time spent also patiently teaching her granddaughters), gardening, and last but not least many years creating beautiful ceramics (most notably piggy banks for all the little ones).  Brenda was most famous for her pickles and her Christmas baking!

Brenda’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, and we were so blessed that she was able to meet her first great granddaughter and we all got to be together to enjoy a very special Christmas.

On January 13, 2022 Brenda passed away peacefully in her home.  She will be sadly missed by her husband of 52 years, Emile and cherished by her son, Craig (Andrea) of Delburne, Alberta; her daughter, Michelle (Todd) of Yorkton, Saskatchewan; granddaughters Jordana (Logan), Taylor, and Madison; grandsons Brant, Kailym, Rallen, and Owen; and great granddaughter Peyton.  Brenda is also survived by her brother Don, sister Bev and sister-in-law Betty along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Fred; her mother, Eileen; her brother, Ron; her brother-in-law, Ron; and her nephew, Michael.

Memorial Service was held January 20, 2022 from the chapel of NairnChyz-Wolkowski Funeral Service Robin, MB., with Floyd Martens officiating. Graveside service will be held in June of 2022.
