Barbara Jean Rattlesnake

1946 - 2013

It is with great sadness that the Rattlesnake family announces the sudden death of Barbara Jean Rattlesnake on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Grandview District Hospital at the age of 66 years.

Barb was born November 27, 1946 at Grandview, Manitoba, a daughter of Cecil and Harriette (Tanner) Rattlesnake. She received her education at Timberton School. Barb was married to Percy Oelette and together they raised their six daughters. Barb also worked as a custodian for several businesses and had also worked at the TA Health Clinic. She enjoyed travelling, sewing, beading, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, shopping, visiting thrift shops and attending garage sales. However her favourite pastime was playing bingo. Barb often visited her daughters as well as extended family members and will always be fondly remembered as being up to her elbows in the kitchen sink doing dishes, and taking on the responsibility of doing laundry and general cleaning chores no matter where she was staying. Barb attended the Valley River Baptist Church.

Barb is survived by her six Daughters; Marilyn (John) of Valley River Reserve, Diane (Dennis) of Valley River Reserve, Stephanie (Gordon) of Valley River Reserve, Cecilia (Robert) of Rolling River Reserve, Priscilla (Harland) of Valley River Reserve, Draven of Valley River Reserve, her

Sister Bernice of Valley River Reserve, her Brother Delbert (Vicky) of Valley River Reserve, twenty-one Grandchildren, twenty-six Great-Grandchildren, four Nephews; Harold, Blair, Johnny, Vince and four Nieces; Tracey, Trudy, Alex, Cynthia.

Barbara was pre-deceased by her Father Cecil Rattlesnake, Step-sister Norma Lynxleg, Grandson Justin (JJ), Husband Percy Oellette, Mother Harriette Rattlesnake, and Great-granddaughter Teah.

Visitation was held Thursday, September 12, 2013, 2:00-4:00 PM at the Chapel of Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin, Manitoba.

Wake Services were held Thursday, September 12, 2013 beginning at 4:30 PM from Chief Clifford Lynxleg School Auditorium, Tootinaowaziibeeng Reserve, Manitoba.

Funeral Service was held Friday September 13, 2013 at 1:00 PM, also from Chief Clifford Lynxleg School Auditorium, with Pastor Randy Moffit officiating. Casket Bearers were Jordan Rattlesnake, Joshua Rattlesnake, Grayston Ironstand, John Fleury, Johnny Rattlesnake and Cyril Rattlesnake. All those who had shared in Barb’s life were asked to consider themselves Honourary Bearers. 

Following the Interment Service at Valley River Reserve Cemetery a feast was held at Chief Clifford Lynxleg School Auditorium.

Or needed something

But put me first instead.

For everything we shared,
