BAUMUNG, Arthur Hareld. Born September 5, 1931 – December 22, 2024. Aged 93 years.
With great sadness, the family of Arthur Baumung announce his passing on December 22, 2024, aged 93 years, in the Russell Health Centre.
Arthur (Art) Hareld Baumung was born to Frederick and Karolina "Lena" Baumung (nee Miller) on September 5, 1931, on the family farm homestead in the RM of Calder, Saskatchewan. He attended the Zorra School where he went until grade 10. Art grew up and worked on the family farm. He then continued to farm and raise cattle with his brother George, until he retired to Roblin in 2010.
Art was confirmed in Zorra Church and baptized in the Clova Church. He sang in the choir in Zorra and MacNutt. Art was always ready to lend a helping hand to his family and neighbours, especially during haying and harvest. While the farm was a mixed operation, raising cattle was Art’s true passion. It was not uncommon to see him walking about the farm with calves following him around like puppy dogs. When he wasn’t working, some of his favourite activities were whittling toy farm machinery, fishing, playing cards and watching baseball games and hockey games, with his favourite teams being the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins.
Art was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Karolina "Lena" Baumung; brother, Ed Baumung; sister Minnie and her husband Bill Deederly; sister Elsie and her husband Harvey Maguire; brother Fred and his wife Irma Baumung; sister, Ellen Bauming; two brothers in infancy; nephew Dale Maguire and nephew Raymond Deederly.
Art leaves to mourn his passing his brother George; nephew, Bill Deederly; niece, Sharon Metz (Deederly); nephew, Gary Deederly; niece, Diane Baumung; niece, June Richter (Baumung); nephew, Darwin Baumung; nephew, Doug Maguire; nephew, Grant Maguire; niece, Karen Maguire; as well as many grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Russell and Roblin Health Centres. Also, special thanks to the friends and neighbours who supported and assisted Art at his home during the last few years.
A Prayer Service in memory of Arthur was held December 30, 2024 at the Chapel of NairnChyz-Wolkowski Funeral Services with Marg West Officiating. The Funeral Service was held on December 31, 2024 at the Chapel of NairnChyz-Wolkowski Funeral Service with Marg West Officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
