STYRAN, Annie Born December 7, 1928 – August 3, 2023 Aged 94 years.
Ann was born on a farm on December 7, 1928 in the area of Zelena, MB and was a daughter to Peter and Katie Hachkowski. Ann was raised on the family farm north of Roblin with her twin brother Nick, her brother John, her sister Jean-which were also twins, and her brother Mike.
At an older age Ann worked at the Dauphin Hospital, ironing nurses’ uniforms. Eventually Ann moved to Shortdale, MB to a farm. Where she met her husband, Peter Styran. Peter and Ann got married on June 19, 1947.
In the late 50s Peter and Ann moved to Roblin, where they had their four sons, Eugene, Bill, Edward, and Terry. Ann stayed at home raising her four sons as her husband Peter worked for CN. Ann also babysat for others at times. Ann loved to spend her spare time travelling on the train visiting places, and seeing family and friends.
Ann lost her husband Peter in 2004. The 18 years of being a widow, Ann had stayed living in their house. Ann was always busy doing something, she was one to never sit still. Come spring time you would always see her in the flowerbeds and would spend hours in the garden. If she wasn’t cooking and cleaning the house, she would be making buns, bread, cabbage rolls, perogies, and all the Ukrainian dishes.
Ann also would enjoy the phone calls and visits from her boys and other family and friends. Ann was known to talk your ear off. From a hello to a goodbye it was hard to squeeze a word in. Ann sometimes would sit on the stool in the kitchen and watch the traffic on the highway, sometimes you would catch her with her binoculars looking through the window.
It was in March 2022, Ann moved into the Roblin Care Home. Ann sadly passed away at the Roblin Care Home on August 3, 2023. Ann is survived by her brother Mike Hachkowski, her three sons Bill (Dot) Styran, Edward (Shari) Styran, Terry (Lynne Boulanger) Styran and extended family.
Ann was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Katie Hachkowski, her brothers, John and Nick Hachkowski, her sister, Jean Macleod, her husband, Peter Styran and her oldest son Eugene Styran.
