Alvina Cockerill

COCKERILL, Alvina Ruth Born April 24, 1936 – August 1, 2025. Aged 89 years.

           It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alvina Ruth Cockerill of Roblin, Manitoba. Alvina passed away on August 1, 2025, at the age of 89 years.

Alvina was born April 24, 1936, in Deepdale, Manitoba, to Velma and Alvin Nastrom. She went to school at the Roblin Elementary and then onto the Goose Lake High School up until Grade 10. In 1978, she completed her GED. Alvina met the love of her life, Lenard Cockerill, in Merridale, Manitoba. They got married in Roblin Manitoba, July 16, 1953.

Alvina and Lenard welcomed their first child, Richard into their lives August 3, 1953, followed by Barry on March 16, 1955, Leona on July 7, 1956, Donna on August 23, 1957, Derek on January 5, 1960, Sharon on February 5, 1963, Noreen on September 16, 1969 and their last child Greg on June 11, 1972.

Alvina was predeceased by her husband, Lenard Cockerill; sons, Gregory and Derek Cockerill; daughter, Leona Yakimishyn; and brother Raymond Nastrom

Alvina was survived and will be deeply missed by her sons, Richard (Fern) Cockerill, and Barry (Margaret) Cockerill; daughters, Donna (Ken) Myslichuk, Sharon (Glenn) Howe and Noreen (Tim) Balabuck; grandchildren, Susanah (Matt), Joel (Caroline), Kyla, Scott (Morgan), Cassandra (Jon), Christopher, Michael (Samantha), Dustin (Marissa), and Briana; numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Greta, Lorene and Joyce; as well as many extended family and friends
