Alfred Jacob Dressler, age 90 years of Grandview, Manitoba, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Grandview District Hospital.

Alf was baptized into God's family on November 5, 1922 and confirmed on November 15, 1936 at the Rothbury Lutheran Church.

He attended Rothbury School until Grade Vlll. In the early 1940's, Alf moved to Winnipeg, Mantioba where he soon went to work for McCain Electric. It was there where he trained to be an electrician.

It was also in Winnipeg that Alf met Hilda Klein. On April 26, 1952 Alf and Hilda were united in marriage.

Alf had a dream of owning his own business. This dream was realized in 1960 when Alf moved his family to Grandview and opened his own business; Dressler Electric. Alf would continue to live in Grandview and work in his business until he had a stroke in 2007, at the age of eighty four years.

Alf was always a strong community supporter, volunteering his time to many boards and committee such as; Jackfish Lutheran Church Camp Board, Grandview Hospital Board, Curling Club and Base Ball Boards to name just a few. Alf served as a Grandview Town Councillor from 1966 to 1971 and then again from 1980 to 1989. He was then elected as Mayor of Grandview, and served in that office from 1989 to 1998. Alf was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church where he served in various roles over the years.

Alfred was predeceased by his parents; Rudolph and Elizabeth Dressler, wife Hilda Dressler in 2002; son Doug Dressler in 2005 and brother Ewald Dressler in 1982.

Surviving to mourn Alfred's death and cherish fond memories are; son Brian (Carol) Dressler of Winnipeg, daughter Sharon (Jim) Rudy of Kamsack, Saskatchewan, son Bruce (Gina) Dressler of Shortdale, Manitoba, and daughter Nancy Dressler of Brandon, Mantioba.
