Alex Moore

MOORE, Alexander (Alex) Frederick Born December 13, 1927 - November 7, 2021 aged 93 years.    

      On November 7, 2021 Alex passed away in Birtle, Manitoba.  Alex was born in Winnipeg, MB. on December 13, 1927.  He came to the farm in the Grainfields district with his parents at the age of 6 months.  He go his schooling at the Grainfields School just one mile north from home.  He lived and worked on the farm with his parents until his marriage to Gertrude (Trudy) Schultz.  He was a cattle buyer back in 1958 taking over the cattle business and farm from his father Alexander Sr.  
     He was also a self-taught veterinarian.  He was well known in the community for his skills and willingness to help.  He learned by intensive reading on the subject, by observing and practicing.  Many times he rolled out of bed in the wee hours of morning to answer a call for help and would possibly end up doing a caesarian section on a cow.
     He was an outgoing person and made friends easily.  One of his favorites pastimes was singing (country of course) and playing guitar.  His great love and concern for all animals always insured he had many animals on the farm and a house dog or two.   Upon retiring, Alex and Trudy moved into Roblin where Alex enjoyed his various fruit trees as his pastime.
     Alex was predeceased by his wife Trudy, parents Alexander and Eilzabeth Moore, sister Pauline Graf.  He is survived by his sister Marlene (Bill) Goodbun and numerous relatives and many nieces and nephews.
     Graveside service was held on November 17, 2021 at Shelvin Lutheran Cemetery, Shelvin District with Pastor Barry Wood officiating.  Memorial donations may be made to Prairie Mountain Britle Health Center or to The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.  To leave a note of condolence for the family please visit nairnchy-wolkowski.ca
