Albert Dolhun

DOLHUN, Albert Born March 28, 1942 – May 16, 2023. Aged 81 years.

Albert Dolhun, 81 years of age, passed on Tuesday, May 16th 2023 at Dauphin General Hospital.

Albert was born March 28, 1942 in Dauphin, Manitoba to the late Michael and Lena (nee: Mezereski) Dolhun.  He was the second of three children.  Brother Walter preceded him in death.  Sister Gloria resides in Dauphin.

          As a young adult, Albert enjoyed playing guitar in a band, flying an airplane for Manitoba Hydro, repairing machinery as a heavy-duty mechanic for Caterpillar in Northern Manitoba, and working on the oil rigs in Alberta.  It was in Edmonton, Alberta where he met the love of his life, Ceina Lewchyshyn, at a church event.  Albert and Ceina married on October 23, 1965.  They settled in Dauphin and raised a family on an acreage north of town.  Albert farmed with his brother Walter for many years.  He later taught mechanics at Assiniboine Community College in Dauphin.  In retirement, he loved the outdoors, cutting wood and planting trees.  When not on the farm, Albert could be found driving around the countryside with friends in search of the best lunch meal deal.  He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  Most memorably, having bonfires by the river.

A heartfelt “Thank You” to all family, friends and staff who visited with, and cared for, Albert during his time in the hospital.

Albert is survived by three children, Richard (Chiyo), Brian, Sheri (Mike) and four grandchildren - Noah, Ashlyn, Jonah and Maren - many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
