Choices for Final Disposition

Following the cremation and/ or funeral service there are several options for the final disposition of the cremated remains. At Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home, we strive to spend all the time necessary to educate families regarding these options.

Permanent Possession

Some families may decide to retain a portion or all of the remains. There are many urns and related products that can accommodate this, and are meant to be a cherished possession.

Scattering

Some families may desire to scatter the cremated remains at a place special to the deceased such as a farm or lake. We will lend our experience with this choice to families, as this option may be regulated by laws. We also advise families to memorialize the area in some way to mark it area for future generations. This can include purchasing a granite memorial or a choice as simple and natural as planting a tree.

Burial or Entombment

A common choice made by families is to bury the urn in a cemetery, either in its own grave or in the existing grave of other family members. Some families may choose to bury the urn on private property such as a family farm or other location. There may be laws regulating this option, and we can guide your family through this process.  Some cemeteries have above ground granite niches as a further option.
